The Royal Naval Equestrian Team

Sporting opportunities abound in the URNU, as our own Midshipman Kate Slennett demonstrated last month.

‘Over the first weekend in October Midshipman Kate Slennett took part in the UK Armed Forces Dressage Championships. This event was held alongside the Dressage Championships of Great Britain at The David Broome Event Centre.

This was the first competition Kate had taken her own horse ‘Al’ along to. Whilst it wasn’t the RN’s outing, with a few unfortunate injuries the weekend was enjoyed by all Service Personnel who took part.

Mid. Slennett said: “The opportunities the Royal Naval Equestrian Squad have afforded me are second to none. Prior to becoming involved with the Squad I had never taken a horse to a competition. The team spirit, support and training opportunities provided are exceptional and I am thoroughly looking forward to the next training and development opportunity and working with ‘Al’ to get to know him better.”’
